News about Hellebores and the collection
We are open from February 25th until the end of March 2022 and possibly early April if temperatures remain low - by appointment only- please ring 01538 752669 to check that we are here before coming as weather and health can vary. I am continuing Covid measures as whatever the government say the infection rates are high and I am not prepared to risk my health or that of my customers. Please wear a properly fitting face mask or entry will be refused. All visits are by appointment only and 1 hour slots are being offered with visitor numbers restricted to ensure a safe 3m distancing. Please ring or email to arrange an appointment

2021/22 has been unusually wet and and windy I have installed large new drains around the tunnels and a new pathway. Global warming is getting worse!
A very mild Autumn and Winter so far means that many species and hybrids are starting to flower already way too early if we get a hard cold spell which will damage some blooms. They all came through UNSCATHED!!!! The 2 collections are near full bloom and looking good with many new specimens
The mildness and wetness means that slugs, snails and mice are thriving and casing issues to some early flower buds! I am taking as many control measures as is practicable .
If the weather continues in this vein then viewing should be very good from late- February onwards - BUT AS EVER PLEASE RING TO CHECK.
We have many new examples of species raised from seed now flowering for the first time and of course many new hybrids of our own breeding too so plenty to see. Some Sales plants are still not in flower due to the prolonged sub zero temperatures and later visitors may see more for sale(remember there is a 3 year time lag from seed to sale)
